Mismanaged verification of the face by colour

Gezicht als verificatie/ identificatie van controle en macht. Gezichtsherkenning wordt overal en met name in China toegepast om controle en macht uit te oefenen. Zoals het Chinese camerasysteem Hikvision waarmee de Oeigoeren worden onderdrukt. Door de berichten uit de media over gezichtsherkenning en controle besloot ik een aantal werken met de structuur van gezichtsherkenning te maken. Gezichtsherkenning systemen meten de verhoudingen in de gezichten. De software ziet het gezicht niet als een foto maar als een verzameling punten en lijnen. Het gezicht wordt hierdoor gereduceerd tot een grafische structuur. Deze grafische structuur van gezichtsherkenning gebruikte ik voor gezichten van voorbijgangers die ik met toestemming gefotografeerd had op straat. De lijnen van de gezichtsherkenning structuur verfde ik met acryl inkt op de foto. Hierna verwerkte ik deze lijnen op het gezicht tot kleurvlakken die een beeldeenheid vormen met het gezicht.

Face as verification/identification of control and power. Facial recognition is used everywhere, especially in China to exercise control and power. Such as the Chinese camera system Hikvision with which the Uyghurs are oppressed. Because of the media reports about facial recognition and control, I decided to make a number of works with the structure of facial recognition. Facial recognition systems measure the proportions in the faces. The software does not see the face as a photo but as a collection of points and lines. The face is thus reduced to a graphic structure. I used this facial recognition graphic structure for the faces of passers-by that I had photographed on the street with permission. I painted the lines of the facial recognition structure on the photo with acrylic ink. After this I processed these lines on the face into areas of color that form an image unit with the face.
